Artwork presented at group exhibition “America the Beautiful”. Aaran Gallery. Curator: Mahoor Toosi. August 2012. My art work included a floating sphere form with 16 punched holes. Images of American history, wars, celebrities and social movements were installed in each puncture. I used an LED projector with timer to illuminate the images from inside. The illumination timing sequence was every 5 seconds. A flashing floating sphere form is viewer’s first impression of this piece. Viewer’s understanding of the work is only completed once viewer approaches the sculpture. People can choose what images they want to see among range of photos from Marilyn Monroe & Lady Gaga to Iraq war and Hiroshima tragedy. I like to demonstrate contrasts in this artwork, contrasts of beautiful images of a faraway country and its realities.
